A newcomer to the Colt legacy, the .460 S&W Magnum round is a powerful cartridge for the Smith & Wesson Model 460 revolver, designed for long-range handgun hunting. The .460 S&W round is a lengthened, more powerful version of the popular .454 Casull, which is already a longer, more powerful version of the .45 Colt hailing from 1872, making it an example of a "super magnum." S&W claims it’s the highest-velocity revolver cartridge in the world, and we’re not inclined to disagree with them, as it fires its projectiles as fast as 2,409 feet per second — faster than some rifle rounds like the 30-30 and 300 Blackout, and rivaling many .223 loads.
.460 S&W Magnum is designed solely for use in S&W Model 460, and cannot be safely fired from other revolvers. It truly puts the BIG in Freedom’s Big Grains series, where it joins its little brother the .454 Casull and other heavy, hard-hitting ammunition.
Each bullet from X-Treme Bullets features an electrochemically applied copper plating over a precision swaged lead core. The base of the bullet is also fully coated in copper. The process starts with a lead billet that is extruded into wire. The lead wire is then swaged into a core. The cores are copper plated, then re-struck once more. Though not common in the industry, this restrike process produces a bullet that is more uniform, with a more precise diameter and a smoother finish for a better shooting and aesthetics. Restriking also ensures consistency from bullet to bullet and lot to lot.
X-Treme Bullets are proudly made out of the finest materials available in the United States for performance delivered down range with each and every shot.
